Carton Closers

The automatic or manually filled carton is presented for closing, normally perfectly formed with the base walls secured and the loaded product seated in its final position.
There are occasions, particularly with naturally variable products such as frozen fish or chicken, where the carton is overfilled and cannot be closed properly. Unlike many machines on the market, Our carton closers have a system, which allows it to pass through the machine where it can be removed without stopping the upstream production process.
The filled carton is presented to the closer for the lid and the remaining two side flaps to be closed and sealed with hot melt glue. The closer first ploughs the lid down and seals the front flap to the front base wall. The inline machine turns the carton through 90 °, using a combination of bottom running belts, a static post turn and servo driven, lugged, turn correction belts.
These belts ensure that the carton is turned precisely through 90°, avoiding jams which can occur, particularly with long cartons, with machines which don’t have this feature.
After turning, the carton enters the second closing section where the two side flaps are ploughed down and sealed against the base side walls. Cartons are propelled through the lid closing process using two overhead conveyors incorporating soft flexible natural rubber fingers which grip the carton firmly yet flex to accommodate bulges caused by oversized product or deformed cartons. With these features the machine range gives high levels of reliability, repeatability and efficiency.
